“Christianity from an entrepreneurial perspective” – this approach offers a fascinating opportunity to look at the teachings and principles of Christianity through the lens of entrepreneurship.

The impact of value models, leadership principles and organizational structures on people is something I have been interested in for a very long time. Good friends of mine have been publishing a magazine called ‘Hoffnung HEUTE’ for many years and I was invited to write an article on a slightly different view on this topic in the context of faith.

Faith in the traditional sense of a God of the Bible is changing dramatically and the church is becoming less important. In 2022, 65,000 people in Switzerland left the church. On the other hand, one of the fastest-growing areas of the book market is that of the spiritual, where ‘spiritual’ in the broadest sense is perhaps to be understood as the search for a fulfilled life. Bringing hope, confidence and strong values into a society would probably be one of the church’s missions, which it obviously no longer fulfills in a way that people understand as such. What the Reformation once brought to Europe with Martin Luther, Jan Hus and many others is being forgotten, and the partial abuse carried out by the church is coming to the fore.

Despite all this, Switzerland is, as stated in the preamble, a country that laid its foundations in the name of the Creator, as described in the Old Testament. The edge embossing of the 5-franc piece, which reads «★★★ DOMINUS PROVIDEBIT ★★★★★★★★★★» (lateinisch for The Lord will provide).[7] The motto was taken from the Bernese coins of the Ancien Régime adopted. Originally, however, the words come from Genesis 1 (1. Mose 22,8 HFA).

Under the title ‘Christianity in bankruptcy?’, I am devoting myself to an old book from an entrepreneurial perspective. Come with me on a short journey through this topic. The article aims to provide food for thought, question the status quo, provide impetus for change and reinforce the good.

Important: The Bible is not only the book of the Jews; even the Koran refers to this book, and Christians also refer to it. I personally think that looking at this book from the perspective of doctrines is not expedient and leads to people only fighting each other with arguments and subsequently with actions, which I can never approve of. My conviction is that we must discover the values and principles in these scriptures and not be irritated by the different expressions of faith as long as they reflect the good and honorable principles. ‘Unity in diversity’ has become one of my guiding principles.
