Why am I moved by the term “Small Data” in the trend of Big Data? In life, it is the small things that matter, and I would like to elaborate on this thought in the context of leadership and collaboration, because I am currently moved by this topic.
Those who study at university, have good school degrees and a considerable number of certifications are considered capable and have the intellectual prerequisites to successfully lead and develop businesses. At least that is what I have the impression to observe.
In a recent book I picked up the idea of “ecology of the heart”. Sustainable management of the world and also the united nations have an Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030.
What is a sustainable leadership style based on Small Data? I would like to fill this term with some personal thoughts. The good shepherd takes care of his sheep and his sheep listen to his voice. A shepherd does not see in his sheep only the capital of wool or the amount of lamb chops, he sees himself first and foremost in the responsibility of his flock to protect it and does not go faster than the slowest in the flock can keep up. He pays attention to the little things and sometimes carries a sick sheep and looks for the lost ones.
He who leads his flock lovingly and mindfully can be sure that the sheep will follow him and that success will not be lacking in the end.
In this sense pay attention to the small signals from your team, “Small data matters”.
Best regards Andreas
