Virtue as the foundation of our Society

Is Virtue the foundation on which a society can stand solidly?

Governments and businesses are caught up in scandals today. Deception in politics and the business world are acceptable. Dishonesty is the basis that in the end human dignity is disregarded in various forms or even trampled upon.

How can we counter the decay of social values? Close the gaps with new laws? Expand the resources of the rule of law?

As a society we have failed to invest significantly in the education of the eye for beauty, music, art, a solid morality and ethics.

This reminds me of the preamble of the Swiss Federal Constitution, which refers to the Christian thoughts that the preamble of the Federal Constitution of Switzerland refers to Christian thought, which is the foundation of our society.

Therefore, I would like to draw up the below recommendations in my own words for a successful society from the Decalogue of the Bible

As a respectable citizen of a society:

1. You will not give the highest priority to your own selfish desires
2. You will not abuse your fellow citizens for your own purposes.
3. You will not workday and night, but will give rest to yourself and your loved ones.
4. You will show respect and honor especially to those who took care of you when you were small and needy
5. You will not speak ill of others and not nurture hatred
6. You will remain faithful in your relationships with your fellow human beings
7. You will not keep anything for yourself that does not belong to you and will not deprive others of what is theirs.
8. You will not use lies to gain advantages for yourself
9. You will not deprive others of their possessions in order to satisfy your desires
10. You will not take from others what they love

With this article, I would like to make my small contribution to the society as per the well-known African proverb “Many small people doing many small things in many small places can change the face of the world. “
