Matteson Mission College, Norway

International group of young adults at Matteson Mission College, Norway, March 2024.

Situation

At Matteson Mission College in Norway, an international group of young adults, roughly 19 to 30 years old, spent March 2024 exploring how values and vocation translate into real entrepreneurial action.

Many of the participants were at the start of their professional path and were looking for an approach that goes beyond pure profit orientation.

Approach

As co-teacher and a practice-based subject expert in business and entrepreneurship, I helped guide the group over several teaching units — alongside the existing teaching team, not as the sole workshop leader or concept owner.

The focus was on: recognising real needs, developing solutions, taking initiative, carrying responsibility, and connecting values with concrete action. I additionally accompanied individual students one on one.

Result

The students developed their own business ideas and presented them at the end in the form of a pitch.

What we learned

Working over several days with an international group of young adults showed how quickly an honest engagement with one's own values can turn into a concrete business idea, when real needs form the starting point rather than abstract concepts.
