Principles
How I think, decide and work
Hosang Consulting creates movement.
Movement does not mean hectic activity or change for its own sake. I move people, teams and organisations by deepening understanding, clarifying responsibility and enabling effective transformation. Movement can be initiated and accompanied, but not forced or guaranteed.
Understanding · Responsibility · Impact
Understanding creates a reliable picture of reality. I do not start with a ready-made solution, but with the question of what actually needs to be understood, decided or changed.
Responsibility means not stopping at analysis and recommendation. Where the engagement requires it, I actively support decisions and their implementation and take on clearly agreed operational responsibility.
Impact does not show in the number of concepts, presentations or completed activities. What counts is what works better in everyday life afterwards.
The three core principles are supported by trust and personal responsibility. Enablement is not an additional value but an essential goal: knowledge, the ability to decide and responsibility should remain with the people and within the organisation.
What I contribute
I help people, teams and organisations understand complex situations, make sound decisions and implement change effectively. The focus is not on the activity of consulting, but on the ability of those involved to take responsibility independently. Whether movement succeeds also depends on the people, the conditions and the context. I therefore do not promise guaranteed success, but responsible, clear and effective support.
What I hold to
- Long-term benefit takes precedence over short-term activism.
- People are not treated as a means to an end.
- Decisions should be transparent, traceable and correctable.
- Impact counts for more than formal completion.
- Consulting should build competence and not create artificial dependency.
My view of people
People are more than their current state. I also see people and organisations in the light of their potential. Potential, however, only becomes effective through voluntary development.
Lasting change cannot be forced. Consulting may create clarity, name consequences, challenge and set limits. It must not, however, manipulate people or bypass their freedom to decide.
Freedom and responsibility belong together. A person or organisation may reject change. The consequences of that decision remain; I respect the rejection and make its effects transparent.
The yardstick
I treat others as I would like to be treated myself. This principle does not replace professional rules, laws or necessary controls. It gives them a direction. It does not mean avoiding conflict: decisions may be clear, responsibility may be demanded, mistakes may be named and projects may be ended. What matters is that I treat people with the same fairness, clarity and respect that I expect myself.
Economic success and impact
Economic success makes lasting impact possible. Impact, however, remains the actual purpose. Profit is a necessary means, but no substitute for value, responsibility and impact.
About my feesAI
AI is an integral part of my way of working. I use it where it can structure information, reduce administrative work, make connections visible or improve the basis for decisions. It does not replace human responsibility: decisions remain with people, the depth of review follows the risk, and data protection and confidentiality apply unchanged. Where people are affected, technology should create more room for qualified human interaction, not more distance. I use AI towards others in the way I would expect it to be used in decisions that affect me.
The 20 core principles
- Understanding before action. I first seek a reliable understanding of reality.
- Self-reflection before judgement. I examine the limits of my own perception and interpretation.
- People have dignity and potential. I do not reduce people to their current state.
- Change needs voluntariness. I create clarity and conditions, but do not force inner development.
- Freedom has consequences. Rejection is respected; I make its effects transparent.
- Facts are not assumptions. I distinguish knowledge, non-knowledge, hypotheses and interests.
- Context creates understanding. I take history, systems and different perspectives into account.
- Correlation is not causation. I examine cause-and-effect assumptions carefully.
- Uncertainty is owned. I work with risks instead of creating false certainty.
- Decisions must enable action. I avoid permanent limbo and define review points.
- Digitalisation follows structure. Technology supports clarified goals, roles, processes and information.
- Introduction is not adoption. Transformation only shows in behaviour and in stable practice.
- Impact matters more than activity. Services are judged by what they actually change.
- Honesty and empathy belong together. I name reality clearly and preserve the dignity of those involved.
- Resistance is information first. I understand its cause before I react.
- Clarity can lead to ending a project. I do not continue projects when meaningful impact can no longer be expected.
- Good consulting creates independence. Knowledge, responsibility and the ability to decide remain in the organisation.
- The role follows maturity. I switch between Challenger, Accelerator, Executor and Observer.
- Responsibility is handed back. I take on only as much as necessary and hand it back as early as is responsible.
- Learning is part of the result. Even an outcome other than planned can be a success if it creates clarity and better decisions.
